The First Edition had the crowd going berserk in excitement. The Second was lapped up just as well. The Third left all in delight of the anticipatory Fourth. And the Fourth has us vying for the next. That’s AGORA-The Flea Market in Nagpur! The only ‘outdoor flea’ Nagpur can boast of.

An initiative of Apeksha Kongovi Munde, the flea derives its name from the ancient Greek term (of the same name) ‘Agora’ signifying ‘a marketplace or gathering’. This one’s livelier, way fancier, a lot cooler and well true to the spirit. A one where you not just ‘Shop’ but also ‘Eat and Celebrate’ as Apeksha believes. The place to be during its occurrence. And truly one hard to miss EXPERIENCE!

The Fourth Edition held on 9th of October at Chitnavis Centre was the grandest to date. The Nagpurians were spoilt for choice with fifty fleas, eight lip-smacking food kiosks, Tarot Card consultant, Henna Artist amongst others. What was not to love! Only, this edition freaked out the organisers, sponsors and fans alike. But good things happen to good people, is what I believe. Also, when you have a multitude of well-wishers sending out prayers to the Heavens above, can Lord Indra not give in? For, it poured the day before, the day next, but not an iota on the day of the event. That’s the spirit and fervour of AGORA!

Coming to the ‘good’ deed, Apeksha Munde has been instrumental in encouraging the innovative, the creative, the work-from-home and the talented. The flea with no particular theme (with products and services galore) and where stalls can be booked at nominal rates, grants the desired exposure, helping shape the lives of confident enthusiasts. The chrysalis from budding talent into rising entrepreneurs (and artists) that is. AGORA, therefore, has managed to carve a niche for itself like none of its counterparts (although they are remotely different) and is now a brand to reckon with.

I entered right before noon and the flea was all primed for an animated display despite the last evening downpour. My eyes wandered and my legs followed to the cute kiosks sprawling across the lush greens. An array of display ranging from hand-made produce, home-baked bonne bouche, of inspired and innovative creativity and what not! I could see even the tiniest of things made with the greatest of labour and seasoned with love, sparkling bright from inside the sunlit white stalls. Goods ranging from a meagre rupee to rates not too fancy is what made the ardent stroll less ‘the window shopping’ to more ‘the I-must-have-it’ EXPERIENCE. A win-win situation for everybody involved.

With festivity in the air, this Diwali Edition was brimming with lotus-shaped diyas, dangling marigold tea-lights, Indian-fusion silhouettes, gifting range. You name it! But what left me marvelling were the never-seen-before products, few of which had made their first appearance here at AGORA. ‘Smoke Biscuits’ by FUMO GELATO, all things ‘crochet’ by TWISTED NEEDLE, the pineapple-lime ‘tochas’ by THE CHAI TAPRI, natural and flavoured Korean ‘face-masks’ by SEOLTANG, ‘motichoor cheesecake’ by THE OVEN STORY, the now beauty rage ‘the oval brush set’ by NAGPUR FASHION.

I left during the day as a blogger, only to be back during late evening with my family. This time for the relaxed Shop-Eat-Celebrate EXPERIENCE. The evening wore a different ambience. The space was illuminated with fancy aerial light balls as with the glimmering installations within stalls. The venue bustled with energy where people of all age group window shopped, made merry, binged away, and caught up with friends and acquaintances (because everybody attends Agora, amirite). AGORA clearly is ruling the roost. The happy hours continued till an hour before midnight.

I clearly have lot more to pen down but I realise that this is getting lengthy. So a quick AGORA ‘Tip’ before I sign off, so you can make the most of your AGORA EXPERIENCE is: Bring along the largest tote that can carry the world and laughter galore. Needless to say, more of these Therapeutic Super Sundays, please!
