The ‘Pochampally IKAT Art Mela 2016’, conducted by Pochampally Handloom Park Ltd., is being held at the City Gallery, 42 Cement Road, Ramnagar (Nagpur), from 10 am to 9 pm. The Nine Day-Expo has been wowing the city fashion connoisseurs and will conclude on the 20th of April 2016. Having garnered an overwhelming response across states; it’s now time for Nagpur to revel in some silken splendour.
The Mela offers a splendid display of handloom products – exclusive, hand-woven Ikat bed and home linens, dress materials, silk, sico, cotton sarees in exquisite and contemporary colours by famous designers, skilfully created by the world famous weavers of Pochampally.
I take immense pride in being a part of the Inaugural Event where I also learnt that the ‘authentic, handmade Pochampally IKATS’ contribute to the ‘Make In India’ Campaign. What is remarkable about the organisation is that it is a source of livelihood for the women artisans alike. Talk of women empowerment! I would like to express gratitude to Mr Lavakumar Bharata (Director, Handloom Park), for having us over.
I was besotted by the gamut of ‘eco-friendly, skin-friendly and handcrafted woven delights. Summery, festive, bridal, vibrant or mellow hues; name it and you will be spoilt for choice on this shopping spree. I picked up the relatively rare ‘Double Ikat’, an artistry wonder. Head over to the IKAT Art Mela and own the global fashion trend.
